Aren't We Over Overalls?

Back in middle school (known to some as junior high) I wore overalls nearly everyday. I had denim overalls, corduroy overalls, and even colored khaki overalls. However, as soon as I entered high school I chucked my overalls in favor of more fashionable leg wear. After reading this article on Fab Sugar which bravely announces that overalls are the next big trend, I must admit - I'm a little worried. There's nothing wrong with overalls per se but aren't there better options that are just as comfortable? Even the Ralph Lauren overalls pictured to the right (and featured in the Fab Sugar article) look like they're straight from the farm (complete with holes and dirt-stained knees). No offense Ralph, but in my humble opinion pairing overalls with metallic peep-toes does not change the fact that the model is wearing overalls. What do you all think - are overalls really the next big Spring 2010 trend?

My two cents: Overalls might be comfortable but so are rompers and jumpsuits and they are infinitely more chic.
